Behind the Scenes of Editing for “Insula Iubirii” – How a Story is Built from Hundreds of Hours of Footage

Insula Iubirii is an absolute leader across all screens: over 8 million Romanians on TV, 400 million online views, and nearly 20 million hours consumed on Antena Play. A unique multimedia phenomenon in Romania, Insula unites millions of viewers and digital users, generates daily conversations, and even launched the first gamification-type game from a domestic TV format.

The success of the Insula Iubirii show is possible thanks to a team of professionals who transform hundreds of hours of video material into real stories. Alongside the show’s producers, the editing team ensures that every frame reaches the viewers in the most authentic way possible, building the meaning of each couple’s story.

At the workshop “Behind the Scenes of Editing for Insula Iubirii – How a Story is Built from Hundreds of Hours of Footage,” on October 15, participants will have the opportunity to meet Victor Ioniță, Post-Production Manager at Antena 1.

- How scenes are chosen.
Story Construction
- Creating narrative threads for each contestant or couple.
- The role of testimonials in explaining motives and emotions.
- Scene organization, rhythm, and tension: cuts, music, visual effects.
Editing
- How hundreds of hours of filming are transformed into a few minutes of an episode.
- How authenticity is preserved while maximizing emotional impact.

With over 21 years of experience in video editing, Victor Ioniță has left his mark on successful productions such as Insula Iubirii, Chefi la cuțite, Te cunosc de undeva!, and iUmor. Every pixel, sound, and special effect is carefully edited to captivate the audience.

Currently, Victor is also a lecturer at Antena Academy, the most innovative media school in Romania, where he teaches the course Creative Video Storyteller.
