Organisation Profile:
The Timiș County Youth Foundation (FITT) is a non-governmental organisation that serves as an umbrella organisation for 29 member organisations. Established under Decree-Law No. 150/1990, FITT has been run entirely by young people and has operated continuously since 1990. FITT is guided by the values of the Council of Europe (CoE). In 2016, it made Casa Tineretului in Timișoara the first (and still the only) youth centre in Romania to receive the Council of Europe’s Quality Label for Youth Centres.
Through free non-formal education programmes, the organisation supports the development of essential skills, providing young people with equal opportunities for personal growth in both urban and rural areas. This vision is complemented by the work of the Europe Direct Timișoara Centre, which actively promotes human rights, democratic principles, and critical thinking, encouraging responsible participation in public life and ongoing engagement with European values and opportunities.
In the cultural sphere, the Foundation’s most prominent initiatives include Time to Rock, a programme that brings together Timișoara’s rock community through more than 50 concerts each year, and Analog Mania, a festival dedicated to photography and analogue art.
FITT also provides safe spaces for international volunteering projects, mobility programmes, and cultural initiatives, as well as humanitarian support through Ukrainian Kids Hub, an active school dedicated to Ukrainian children. All these activities are supported by a vibrant infrastructure that welcomed over 400,000 visits in 2025, confirming FITT’s position as a key hub for non-formal education, culture, and community life in Timiș County.
